Many people thought that the weakening Russian economy after the big brands started to impose an embargo on Russia would put pressure on Putin and lead to results in favor of Ukraine in the negotiations. There are many reasons why they can be justified, but the way democracy in Russia is progressing will be one of the biggest reasons why this idea will not produce the expected results.

Unfortunately, democratic processes in countries such as Russia, Egypt, Iran, etc., do not work as in theory. Democracy is just a word used to show that the dominant people in the administration of these countries are somehow chosen by the will of the people. For this reason, any reaction against the people in the administration may directly take you to jail or cause you to be declared a traitor and thrown as bait in front of the people. On the contrary of expected, moves that will put the people in a difficult situation strengthen the bond between people in these countries and increase the resistance of the whole nation against difficult situations. In the same way, they strengthen their ability to get rid of these difficult situations by using their own resources and gain the ability to create opportunities on their own that they did not have before.
